At the core of resource-wise energy supply are renewable energy solutions, energy efficiency, and energy conservation — aiming to minimize energy waste and maximize overall efficiency. Energy production must move toward techno-economically sustainable solutions, phasing out fossil fuels and, in the long term, also other forms of energy production that generate net greenhouse gas emissions. Resource wisdom applies systems thinking to ensure that the overall sustainability of the pursued solution does not become weaker than the starting point.
In Resource Wisdom research area we research and develop various solutions for sustainable energy production and consumption. The group's expertise particularly covers the following areas:
- Solar energy and its various applications: technical solutions, electrical and fire safety, standards and guidelines, education, and advisory services
- Energy efficiency, conservation, and flexibility: solutions for buildings, industry, and households
- Impact assessment: carbon footprint, material footprint, and life cycle assessment (LCA) methods
- Hydrogen as part of the future energy system: we explore the opportunities of the hydrogen economy and continue developing our expertise in this growing field
Our research consists of projects as well as applied research conducted in collaboration with companies. We aim to co-develop solutions that reduce energy consumption, lower carbon footprints, and enhance competitiveness. Whether it’s applying solar energy systems, improving industrial energy efficiency, or calculating emissions, we support our companies in making sustainable and profitable decisions.
In collaboration with companies, we can test and pilot solutions that enhance energy efficiency, apply evolving legislation, assess investment profitability, and bring new research insights into business development. Customers and stakeholders increasingly value responsibility, and resource-wise solutions strengthen a company’s reputation and market position.
